Thomas Tansur, Groom, was christened in South Kilworth on 19 Jan 1845. He firstly married Mary Elston on 2 Dec 1866 in the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

They had the following children:

  • Henry (known as Harry), b. 1866, Stretton, Derbyshire, d. 1956, Leicestershire
  • Mary Jane b. 1869 in South Kilworth, d. 28 Mar 1928, Leverton, Lincolnshire
  • Edward, christened 4 Jun 1871 in South Kilworth
  • Frederick, b. 1875 in South Kilworth, d. c1954

Mary died in 1879.

In 1881 Thomas and the 4 children were living with Thomas's parents (Walter and Ann Tansur) on Walcote Road, South Kilworth, Leicestershire.

Thomas secondly married Ruth Malliband (nee Bassett) in 1881 in South Kilworth. They had the following children:

Ruth had a son Albert E Malliband from her previous marriage.

Thomas and Ruth are recorded in the 1891 England Census living at Lutterworth Road, South Kilworth with Harry/Henry (24), Edward (20 - 'Groom'), Frederick (15 - 'Engine Cleaner'), Albert E. Malliband (Stepson: 12 - 'Agricultural Labourer'), James (8), Walter C. (6) and Tom (1).

Thomas died in South Kilworth in 1903.
