Samuel Tanser (shoe rivetter) was born c1858 in Northampton, Northamptonshire.  He married Harriet Draper (b. c1859, Northampton) in Northampton in 1877.

Samuel and Harriet had the following children:

• Frances Harriet(t), b. 1880, Northampton, Northamptonshire (Shoe maker)
• Joseph, b. 1888, Northampton, Northamptonshire
• Matilda, b. 1890, Northampton, Northamptonshire
• Samuel, b. 1893, Northampton, Northamptonshire
• Harriet, b. 1896, Northampton, Northamptonshire

In 1881 Samuel (a shoe rivetter) and Harriet were living in London at 44 Princess St, Middlesex.
