John Thomas Tanser, was born in 1879 in Leicester, the son of Abel and Alice Tansur.

John Thomas (a Commission Agent for Musical Instruments) married Lily Alice Baker in 1898 in Leicester. Lily was born in St Osyth, Essex, in 1878.

They had the following children:

  • Herbert Cecil, b. 1899, Leicester

In 1901 John, Lily and Herbert were living in Leicester.
