Abel Tansur, was born in 1849 and christened on 24 Jun 1849 in South Kilworth, the son of Abel and Ann Tansur.

Abel married Alice Spence in 1875.  Alice was born 1852 in Enderby, Leicestershire and she died before the 1901 Census was taken.

Abel and Alice had the following children:

• John Thomas, b. 1879, Leicester
• Ann Elizabeth, b. 1880, d. 1881, Leicester
• Caroline Alice, b. 1883, Leicester - married William Shaw in 1904 in Leicester
• Walter, b. 1886

In 1881 Abel (a Shoe Rivetter) and his family lived at No7 Crane Street, Leicester, with his widowed mother, Ann Tansur.

In 1901 Abel was recorded in the Census as living at St Margaret's, Leicester, with his daughter, Caroline (working in Hosiery) and Walter (General Labourer).
